2008-09 Division II Football Recruiting Calendar

The NCAA restricts the type of contact Division II college coaches may have with student prospects throughout the year. Each day of the year is designated by one of the following four types of contact:

Contact Period:

During a contact period coaches may make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.

Dead Period:

During a dead period coaches may not make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off-campus or permit official or unofficial visits.

Evaluation Period:

During an evaluation period coaches may attend off-campus activities to assess your academic qualifications and playing abilities. However, coaches may not have any direct contact with you.

Quiet Period:

Coaches may make in-person recruiting contacts with you only on their campus.

The dates in this calendar reflect the application of Bylaw 30.11 at the time of publication but are subject to change per NCAA Constitution 5.2.3.1 or if certain dates (e.g., National Letter of Intent signing dates) are altered.

To the beginning of the prospect's high school or two-year college football season (as determined by the first regularly scheduled practice immediately preceding the start of the regular season).

During the prospect's high school or two-year college football season (as determined by the first regularly scheduled practice immediately preceding the start of the regular season).

 Evaluation
November 1-30, 2008 [except for (1) below]: Evaluation

(1.) For two-year college prospects, the conclusion of the prospect's two-year college football season (i.e., the conclusion of the institution's regularly scheduled contest rather than the conclusion of the institution's final postseason contest) through November 30.

 Contact
December 1, 2008 - March 9, 2009 [except for (1-2) below]: Contact

(1.) December 15 (7 a.m.) - December 17, 2008 (7 a.m.) for two-year college prospects and his educational institutions.

 Dead

(2.) February 2 (7 a.m.) - February 4, 2009 (7 a.m.).

March 10 - May 31, 2009 [except for below]: Quiet
April 15 - May 31, 2009 [except for (1) below]: Evaluation

(1.) Four weeks (excluding Memorial Day and Sundays) selected at the discretion of the member institution and designated in writing in the office of the director of athletics.
Those days in April/May not designated above for evaluation opportunities Quiet
The following is an exception to the Division II football calendar:

(1.) Authorized coaching staff members may evaluate a high school football all-star game any time of the year, provided the game occurs within the state in which the member institution is located.
