Remembering Coach Ron Schipper

Ron SchipperFormer Central College Head Football Coach and NATS Board of Review Member Ron Schipper passed away Sunday, March 26th near his home in Holland, MI. He was 77 years old.

Coach Schipper played a vital role in the birth of NATS. AFCA Executive Director Grant Teaff appointed him to the NATS Task Force in 2000. Coach Schipper had since served as a member of the NATS Board of Review.

Coach Schipper coached at Central College from 1961-1996, compiling an overall record of 287-67-3. He ranks second among NCAA Division III coaches in career victories and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Coach Schipper lead the Central College Dutch to the NCAA Division III playoffs 12 times, winning the Division III National Championship in 1974.

Coach Schipper is survived by his wife Joyce and his three children Tim, Sara and Thom.
